A view of the Alaska Mountain Range from the air

Flying high over the Alaskan Mountain Range is one of the most jaw dropping views we have ever witnessed.  We felt in good hands with our pilot Jim Andy of Fly Denali and had a phenomenal day up in the air. Our 2-hour flight was not only a thrill; it offered us a bird’s eye view of the worlds most rugged landscape.

The Art of Learning at MOMA, NYC

Learning about art at MOMA in New York City

Last summer we had the opportunity to travel for the first time to New York City. Using our city pass to the fullest, we went to every major tourist attraction that we could possibly manage to see.

One of these attractions on that fabulous pass was the Museum of Modern Art. We basically ran through the museum trying to fit everything in during our far to short of time in the city, but we pause long enough for a moment to capture this special moment; A mother teaching her daughter an appreciation for art.

It was a beautiful moment in time that made us pause and stop to take in the magic and beauty of the art surrounding us.

One of the greatest advantages of being a travel blogger is the opportunity to meet extraordinary people.

We met Laurent Dick last year while traveling with Princess Cruises in Alaska and were completely in awe of his life. Hailing from Switzerland, he settled in Alaska after exploring the high Canadian Arctic.

A contract photographer for the Associated Press with five photography books published, Laurent is a leader in his field. He is an expert in photographing under extreme conditions such as documenting the epic Yukon Quest dog race and guiding climbers on Mount McKinley.

Durian: A Stinky Yet Beloved Fruit

If you’ve traveled through parts of Southeast Asia, you might’ve crossed paths with a fruit that is so “ripe,” it’s been banned in some cities’ public places, like hotels and public transportation! Meet the Durian — the world’s stinkiest fruit.

Its distinct stench, described by some as dirty gym socks (personally, I think the smell is more like rotting flesh) is quite beloved by many in some Asian countries.

Originally native to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei — portions of which make up the island of Borneo — durian is now grown in more Asian countries like the Philippines and Thailand, who is the biggest exporter of durian.
