FRANKFURT, Germany – A coco de mer tree is growing in the middle of Frankfurt, Germany — this and other “Treasures of the Seychelles,” as the title of a brand-new exhibition promises, currently awaits visitors at Frankfurt’s Palmengarten, a lush botanical garden in the heart of this busy city and one of the few places in the world outside the Seychelles that has managed to grow this tree.

The exhibit juxtaposes nature’s art — a genuine coco de mer — and man-made art in the form of photographs by German photographer Angelika Fischer, as well as paintings and etchings by Seychelles artists George and Flocel Camille.

After their successful carnival of carnivals in March this year, the Seychelles islands have launched the brochure for their Festival of the Sea, which is set to take place from November 4-6 in the lovely and picturesque bay of Beau Vallon on the north of the main island of Mahe.

The Seychelles SUBIOS event started off as an Underwater and Image Festival, which has been an annual event since 1989. Q: I have a significant birthday coming up and for my celebration I’d like to participate in a cooking school in France for about five days that is taught in English. Discussion of wine would be a plus.

Centara Hotels&Resorts has opened the first Boutique Collection resort in Vietnam, the Chen Sea Resort&Spa Phu Quoc, Centara Boutique Collection.

Located in a beachside setting on the island of Phu Quoc, the property is built to an intimate scale with only 36 villas.

Operated under a management contract and previously known as Chen La Resort&Spa, Chen Sea Resort&Spa is Centara’s fourth property in an overseas destination.
